Good news. Southern California Edison (SCE) has informed the City that the traffic signal at the intersection of Rancho California Road and Jefferson/Old Town Front Street will be the only signal to lose power starting at approximately 7:00 PM. The signals at Rancho California and Ynez, and the I-15 on/off-ramps should not be impacted. However, the following lanes will be subject to closure between 7:00 PM tonight, June 23, through 6:00 AM Friday, June 24 to allow SCE to safety complete maintenance on their underground electrical system:
Old Town Front Street – The right turn lane from northbound Old Town Front to eastbound Rancho California Road.
Rancho California Road – The right turn lane from westbound Rancho California Road to the I-15 northbound on-ramp.
Ynez Road – The southbound right turn lane to Rancho California Road as well as the right hand southbound through lane south of Rancho California Road.
The City has been advised that tonight, June 23, 2016, Southern California Edison (SCE) must complete repairs to the electrical distribution system that will impact traffic signal operations along Rancho California Road at Jefferson/Old Town Front; at the I-15 ramps; and at Ynez Road. Work is anticipated to start at approximately 7:00 PM and be completed by 6:00 AM. The City’s signals along Rancho California Road at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and at the intersection of Ynez Road utilize a battery back-up system and should flash red during most of the electrical outage. However, the Caltrans’ signals at the on/off-ramps will be dark when the power is cut. Drivers are reminded that a signalized intersection with a dark traffic signal is to be treated as a 4-way STOP controlled intersection. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, or use extreme caution when passing through this area.
