TEMECULA, CA ̶ Chile Hedz, a family owned and operated retail store in Old Town Temecula, along with the City of Temecula Community Services Department, will celebrate the arrival of 10,000+ pounds of fresh New Mexico Hatch Chiles to our very own Old Town. This Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 29 & 30, 2015, with Saturday hours from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday hours from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Come browse through vendor booths, listen to hot music, get swept off your feet by the Ballet Folklorico (Saturday at 12:00 pm & 2:00 pm), and more!
From farm to table in three days, the Fresh Chile Peppers will arrive early Saturday morning to be roasted throughout the weekend. Large portions of the fresh Hatch Chiles have been pre-sold and batches of fresh chilies can be pre-ordered, as desired. Fresh chile powder and fresh strung chile ristrasare will also be available for purchase.
Chile Hedz in Old Town Temecula owners, John and Raquel Anthony of Temecula, have sponsored this Southwestern Tradition every fall for the last eight years. John Anthony, of New Mexican heritage, is proud to bring the Hatch Chile to his home town of Temecula. “My grandfather Marcello Trujillo would be thrilled to know that our Chile has made such a lasting impression in California.”
The Anthony’s of Chile Hedz-Hot Shop will be awaiting the arrival of the truckload of fresh Hatch Chiles that will be roasted and sold throughout the weekend. The entrepreneurs, along with their four children, have been in business for seven years running their specialty Chile store. They carry a variety of hot sauces, salsas, pepper jellies, spicy snacks (like habanero fudge), BBQ sauces, powdered and dried chilies, and much more.
This Hatch Chile event is one that their customers look forward to year after year. Customers typically pre-order their fresh Chile June through August. The customer base is primarily those who have previously lived in New Mexico or have been acquainted with Hatch Chile before. But each year, they happily acquire a few new “Chile Heads” to the pot. Once a year, they gather round and share stories about where they grew up and exchange recipes of their mothers cooking. “It’s like a big family reunion,” says owner Raquel Anthony, “The one thing they all have in common is their love for New Mexico Green Chile and we are happy to provide it to them. It is truly second to none.”
Chile Hedz is located at 28636 Old Town Front Street, Suite 108A, Temecula, CA, 92590. Please contact Raquel Anthony at (951) 699-6750 or email@example.com or you may also contact the City of Temecula Community Services Department at (951) 694-6480.
